Mentors in Motion: Multilevel Marketing (MLM) Program Review
A friend of mine once dragged me kicking and screaming to a "Meeting" for yet another brilliant Network Marketing idea. I went, but only to shut her up. I knew in my heart that I was not going to get swept off my feet with promises of an easier life, a better zip code to bring up my family, a yacht by the marina, and membership to the country club. I have "been there, done that" was my attitude. I went, because, what are friend for?
Well, I am a sucker for MLMs. I really am in love with the idea of being my own boss, and being financially independent. The zip code, the yacht and the country club membership are, to me, are icing on the cake. I will not bore you with the details. I will make it short and sweet. They got me. I was all signed up by the end of the meeting. A proud new addition to yet another company.
I could see potential in this. I was determined to make a little extra income doing this. I came home and attacked my new TO-DO list with the dogged determination of a true believer. I went straight to Craigslist and placed my ads for others with vision to take a look at my opportunity, and take proactive measures towards ensuring a better tomorrow for themselves and their families.
One of the responses I got was from a lady who was quick to tell me that she was NOT interested in my business opportunity offer, but knows how I could grow my new business in record time. She went ahead and asked me to go to her website and read up on MENTORING IN MOTION. I did.
My review here is NOT from personal experience as I did not "bite," but from pure research. This is what I found.
Pros and Cons MENTORS IN MOTION is a training program where the training is given through Live Workshops/Teleconferences by. Mr. Val Smith, (the owner/leader.) The course will set you back $499.99. and for that here is what you will get:-
- Access to the "World Famous 3 Hours of Power Seminar"
(3 times),
- 80 live interactive one and a half hour coaching sessions per year (2 per week),
- free conference call line, free voice mail, free telephony system,
-$1000 worth of free qualified phone leads
Even though this program is not touted as an MLM, I feel it operates like one. To become a student of Mentors in Motion, you pay $499.99. In order to qualify as a re-distributor of the program, you give up your first referral, that means, the fee from the first person you bring into the program goes to the company thereafter, anybody that signs up for the program through you actually sends YOU their fees of $499.99 of which you keep $400.00 and send the $99.99 to the company. To me, this is a one up system. Nothing wrong with that, but shouldn't we call a spade a spade?
In her attempt to convince me what a good idea Mentoring in Motion is, this lovely lady pointed out that with the program, you will learn effective methods of building whatever program you are in, as well as make money introducing people to Mentoring In Motion. For this one, I did a very lengthy search on the web looking for ANYBODY that has made money as a result of joining this program. I am not saying that there aren't any, I just didn't find one.
In my travels, I came across a website called ONLY REVIEWS. Here is what the moderator/ owner there had to say:
Mentors in motion is run by Val Smith and the system is all about selling others admission to conference calls where mentoring takes place. There's more details I could go into about this system, but I think I can save you some valuable time by just telling you that none of my three hundred and forty two students has made any money with this system. One of my students did however tell me that he learned a lot from it. But I say who care's how much you learn if you aren't making any cash? Isn't that what we want when we are testing out a new system? Mentors in Motion gets peoples attention because it has a very unique and interesting structure, both in payment and in teaching. But again, I say that now famous quote: "show me the money." Val Smith appears to be quite a creative and intelligent fellow who realized that mentoring is one of the quickest ways to help someone duplicate the income of another person. But I think Val Smith failed to recognize one important fact about mentoring. His Mentors in Motion program doesn't take into account that the type of mentoring that most effectively helps others to duplicate income is one-one-one.
