Disciples Cross (Jewelry/Craft Assembly): Home-based business review

Pros and ConsNow, the minute one hears of craft assembly business opportunities, the first thing that comes to mind is SCAM, SCAM, SCAM. and most of them are. The ads though, are everywhere. Pay up so much money upfront, so the company can send you the materials you need to put something or another together for them, you mail it back, and "your check is in the mail."

When I heard of DISCIPLES CROSS, I was immediately tempted, but I told myself that I was way too sharp to be taken by this but I will say, I was intrigued. I decided to look into this work from home offer more closely. I figured, if this was the real thing, it would be heaven on earth. Disciples Cross is run by John Raymond, the Pastor of New Horizon Christian (Name sounds familiar? You might have seen him on, or heard about him from CBS television show, Survivor, Thailand
Here is an excerpt from his website:-

Disciple's Cross™ was started as a craft idea at a summer youth camp in the early 90's.  I was continually able to meet the growing demand for my Disciple's Cross™ necklaces, until my appearance on the Emmy Award winning CBS television show, Survivor: Thailand. After wearing one of my unique, hand-made crosses on the show, interest skyrocketed and there was no way I could meet the demand myself. I need your help and I'm willing to pay you well for it. Read on to learn how you can earn up to $2,000 in pure profit each month with the Disciple's Cross™ opportunity.

One does not have to be exceptionally gifted in arts and rafts to make these necklaces, Pastor Raymond says. Once you get the hang of it, you can make one in five minutes. This entry in the website appealed to me the most. Pastor Raymond writes :-In order to control my inventory and avoid unethical sweat-shop operations, I limit the number of units to eight units of 50 per week, per producer (400 crosses).  This gives you the ability to earn up to $500 in pure profit.

Wouldn't the opposite be true of a scammer? I am yet to meet a considerate scammer. If on the other hand, you desperately need to make more money and can produce more units, you could make more and sell them privately. As a Disciple's Cross Certified Producer, you will be given generous marketing rights. You may sell your Disciple's Cross necklaces to whomever you wish and at whatever price you choose, i.e

-Christian bookstores

-at craft fairs and swap meets

-Use them as fundraisers for your church or school.

-Sell them on the Internet for any price you wish.

Now, there goes the concept that assembly jobs scam people by making you do work that will never pass inspection s you never get paid. That does NOT apply here, Not in the general terms it is implied. Of course if you do substandard work, it will be rejected, after all, you ARE producing a product that has to be sold so quality control is vital. Becoming a Disciple's Cross™ Certified Producer will set you back $ 69.95. For that you will get:-

-Supplies needed to make 25 completed Disciple's Crosses, along with a finished sample.

-a step-by-step instructional dvd (or videotape if requested) of Pastor John training you on how to make a perfect Disciple's Cross every time!

-a certified Disciple's Cross Producer certificate, suitable for framing,

-an autograph picture of Pastor John from Survivor Thailand

- Information on how to request a free IRS publication for home based businesses.

Recommended?   I did a thorough search on this, Definitely not a scam. The only complaint I got was the time delay in processing, i.e., people waiting a long time for their supplies, or their finished work being inspected so they can be paid. I would say "GO FOR IT" after doing your own research though.
